Ayr Lox’ide – Dreads can fly.
When we asked Ayr a year ago WHY she hadn’t had any dread flick pics taken, apparently no one had never asked.. we had no idea why no one’s ever asked, as that was the first thing that we thought about when first seeing them!
Our first couple attempts with a hair flick was a bit of a ‘hit and miss’; We couldn’t get the dreads to separate, we had a recently broken lens which was screwing with focus, and our ceiling wasn’t tall enough.
So we slowly planned out what we thought might look good, and decided that a studio setting was best, to make her dreads stand out the most.
Now that we had a plan in mind for how to actually capture her hair flicking, we had no idea what to dress her in, so we asked an up & coming stylist, Alphie LaFray, what she thought might work, and she suggest a latex dress made by Deer Couture.
There was excitement from all parties involved, we couldn’t wait to try the hair flick, and Ayr had never worn latex before. On the day, we had an earlier photoshoot with Kerry X, where she lent some expert advice on how to put it on, how to care for it, etc.
It was definitely a two man team needed for this. One person was taking the photos, while the other person was lubing the dress up to make it look shiney, and chucking her hair around.
Because we were planning for her to sit while it was being captured, we didn’t realise that the latex dress would stick to the surface almost like a suction cup, so we made sure she placed her self perfectly. Ayr was a trooper and got a fantastic ab work out while we tried to get it perfect.. and she still smiled the whole time, even though I lost count of the times we accidentally whipped her in the face with her own dreadful weaponry!
We used a simple shoot though umbrella flash to light everything in front, and a small bare speedlight to the right, to make her hair pop a little more.

We love Ayr - shes super fantastic and professional to work with.. as well as looking super hot in this sexy dress!
